PHOENIX — A holiday lantern arts festival that features 10 million lights and 75 displays is opening in Phoenix on Friday. Lights of the World will run four nights a week plus holidays until Jan. 12 at the state fairgrounds near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road. The show combines the Chinese tradition of lantern festivals with modern technology and lights, according to the event website. Two separate shows on the fairgrounds — the Sea Lion Splash and Puppetone Rockers — are free with admission.
